OUR VISION
Billionaires and giant corporations have rigged the system. They raise the rent, poison our land and water, and keep our wages down. They get richer and we get poorer.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. There are a few of them – and a lot of us! If we come together and make our voices heard, we can win The Good Life for working people in rural WA.
Building Blocks for The Good Life in Rural WA
We all need access to affordable, high-quality healthcare. But right now, greedy insurance CEOs exclude us from coverage, deny us care, and hike up prices on lifesaving medicine to pad their enormous profits. We’re fighting to expand health insurance for more people, lower medical bills, and improve rural hospitals. We see a future where none of us have to worry about whether we can afford to visit the doctor.
All of us deserve a stable, healthy home where we can raise our families and relax after a hard day’s work. But that’s not our reality. Landlords can jack up our rent without limits. Water leaks from our roofs and our kids get sick from mold. We’re forced to choose between paying rent and taking medications. We’re fighting for limits on annual rent increases and a massive expansion of healthy home repair programs. We see a future where our homes are safe places to enjoy time with our families.
We pay our share in taxes. But billionaires and multi-millionaires don’t: they pay a whole lot less than we do, despite having so much more. They’ve managed to lock away their wealth by rigging the tax system in their favor. We’re fighting for a fair tax system that makes the super-rich pay up what they truly owe. We see a future where we’ve unlocked that wealth and fully-funded public programs for working people, including healthcare, childcare, and affordable & healthy housing.
We all deserve to know that our land and water will be here for future generations to work, hunt, and play. But right now, giant out-of-town corporations and greedy CEOs are poisoning our rivers, trashing our forests, and mistreating those of us who work the land. We’re fighting to make sure that our lands and water are healthy for the people who come after us. We see a future where our kids and grandchildren splash in clean rivers and where we breathe fresh air as we work in the woods.
We take pride in our hard work. But our wages just don’t come close to what it truly costs to raise a family, save for emergencies, and build towards retirement. Over the past few decades, giant corporations have attacked labor unions and held back working families to maximize their profits, and there aren’t many solid jobs left in our region. We’re fighting to bring thousands of good, family-wage jobs back to rural WA. We see a future where there are abundant jobs caring for our people and the land.
All kids should have safe, quality childcare where they can learn and play while their parents are at work. But right now, the cost of childcare is out of reach for most families—if we’re lucky enough to even find a slot in the first place. We’re fighting for childcare that’s actually affordable, widely available in rural areas, and where childcare providers are paid a living wage. We see a future where we don’t have to choose between going to work and caring for our kids.
